Carlo Ancelotti: Napoli Will Walk Off Field Due To Racist Chants

Dec 27, 2018 6:39 PM

Carlo Ancelotti said he asked the ref to delay the match against Inter three times due to monkey chants directed at Kalidou Koulibaly.

Ancelotti blamed Koulibaly's red card on the ref's inability to take charge of the situation, and said that his side were willing to forfeit matches if racist chants continued.

“Announcements were made but the match continued. Next time we’ll stop the match by leaving the pitch, even if that means maybe forfeiting the match.”

Pep Guardiola: City Must 'Change The Dynamic' Following Loss

Dec 26, 2018 8:27 PM

Pep Guardiola said his side must win "soon" following a shock 2-1 loss to Leicester City, their third defeat in four matches.

Their recent struggles have taken City from first to third on the table.

Guardiola focused on the mental aspect of his team, saying his side need to regain their confidence.

“As soon as possible we have to try to win again for our mood, our confidence and our desire. You have to be confident to play and to come back...good results make miracles in the mind. Now there will be doubts but what we have to do is try to change the dynamic to win games and make good performances. But we are able to do that. I never doubt them.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: United Were Too Congested At Times

Dec 22, 2018 10:44 PM

Despite a dream managerial debut culminating into a 5-1 win over Cardiff City, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer found areas where United could improve in the future.

United played an open, attacking 433 style but "in some periods we were too congested, with four or five players on top of each" according to the new boss.

"When we get to work a little bit with each other and understand we can trust each other to do a job, then we can have a little bit more distance and we might even improve," Solskjaer added.

Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool Need 105 Points To Win Premier League

Dec 22, 2018 1:48 PM

Jurgen Klopp claimed that Liverpool would need to reach 105 points to win the Premier League title this season.

“Forty-eight points before Christmas, it’s just crazy, but there are other teams there as well. At the end of season you need 105 [points] to be champion – it could be. We cannot start a party,” said Klopp.

Still unbeaten domestically, the 105 point total would break the mark of 100 points set by Manchester City last season.

Jose Mourinho Compares Liverpool To His Porto Sides, Praises Robertson

Dec 16, 2018 2:12 PM

While observing how his side couldn't cope with Liverpool's intensity and physicality during their 3-1 loss at Anfield, Jose Mourinho compared Liverpool's defensive transitions with his Champions League-winning Porto sides.

“You can compare my Porto team to Liverpool as the quality of the players are there. It was my best team in defensive transition. We lost the ball and bite like mad dogs and recover the ball in seconds.”

He singled out Andy Robertson as Liverpool's defining player, saying “I am still tired just to look at Robertson. He makes I think 100 metre sprints per minute. Absolutely incredible and these are qualities.”

Mourinho then pointed out the technical ability of his opposition from the likes of Sadio Mane and Naby Keita. But Liverpool's physicality made the difference.

“I have lots of good players technically but we don't have many players with that intensity and that physicality. When the game has high level of intensity it is difficult for us. We have lots of problems dealing with physicality.

The Spanish midfielder, who has struggled under Santiago Solari, also rejected the captain's armband from Marcelo.

Marcelo, who started the match as captain, was subbed off and "tried to give the armband to Isco. But he told me that I had to give it to Carvajal. I don't know what the reason for that was."

Pep Guardiola Says Manchester City Taught "Good Lesson"

Dec 8, 2018 6:20 PM

Pep Guardiola admitted that Chelsea were better in spurts after Manchester City's 2-0 defeat, their first loss in the league this season.

Guardiola said that his side must be more incisive in front of goal despite missing Sergio Aguero, and that the lesson of losing a match by giving up one chance after dictating possession will serve them well in Europe.

“That is the level of the Champions League", Guardiola said, before adding that "people say Manchester City is favourite for the Champions League but this is the [level of the] Champions League – they [Chelsea] had one chance and scored one goal. The opponents are so good, so clever. That is what’s going to happen in the future in the bigger stages.”

The loss moves Manchester City one point behind league leaders Liverpool.
